Skyrim Mod List & Setup

TamiriThis is my mod list. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My mod list is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My mod list, without me, is useless. Without my mod list, I am useless.

My mod list is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses and its strength. I will keep my mod list clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.

  1. Howdy. Probably not gonna write back, but worth a shot. I’ve installed most of the stuff and struggled with crashes after opening the map. No other problems, just opening the map. Any ideas?

    • Hey. Not sure why that would be but did a quick search and found someone else with that problem who hadn’t installed SKSE correctly. Are you confident you’ve done it right, with the 2 dll files and exe file in the correct folder where TESV.exe is located?

    • Make sure you’re using LOOT it’ll sort your boot order as well as check for which mods need the appropriate patching.

  2. would you ever consider making an installation video?

  3. Do you have a copy of your previous load order? I’ve been downloading and installing mods and you’ve updated it!

  4. Not even kidding, I am listening to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard as I found this page, what a crazy coincidence!! Not sure if your name is a reference to this band or not, but either way pretty cool. Cheers for the comprehensive list!!

    • Ha no just a coincidence. It was just the name of my first Skyrim character, I didn’t know the band at the time. I’ve checked them out since though and they sound cool. Rattlesnake and Hot Wax really got stuck in my head.

  5. hi do you have an install order? which do i install first to not over write anything? thanks!!

  6. What is your mod list order?? \

  7. Hey dude! Just commenting to thank you for this great list. Saved me alot of time. <3

  8. Would this work this skyrim enhanced edition?

    • Not really yet. Have to wait until more of the mods get ported over and SKSE comes out. I do plan on updating this list for special edition but probably won’t be for a while yet.

  9. Hi, would you be able to tell me if you have encountered this before? and how can I fix it?

I downloaded all the mods in order and followed the instructions.

    • Hi. I haven’t personally encountered it but I’ve seen other people who have. It looks like a mesh problem. I’d try disabling DYNDOLOD first to see it that makes a difference but I really don’t know. Btw, you need to open your enblocal.ini file and set FixParallaxTerrain=false to fix your landscape textures.

      • Thank you for the reply,

Still no fix for it, I disabled DYNDOLOD and the bushes are still purple. Same thing when I reinstalled it. πŸ™

        • Just did a quick search and it seems more likely it’s a missing texture. Maybe try reinstalling Skyrim Flora Overhaul.

          • So I uninstalled SFO and went in-game to check if it made any changes to the bushes. Turns out the purple boxes have gone! I deleted all the files and did a fresh reinstall. I then went back in game and the purple boxes were there. What am I doing wrong?

            • UPDATE

I have two files one named “SFO” and another named “SFO Basic Edition” I have disabled the SFO file and it bushes are appearing just fine now. Thank you for your help!

              • Glad to hear you sorted the problem. Just make sure you’re only using one version of SFO. The newest version is 2.5b so the plugins you should have are Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp and SFO – Dragonborn.esp.

  10. Hey,

After I installed all the mods I could not jump.
    I use an Xbox controller.

    • Hi. I just plugged in my xbox controller to check and jump works fine for me. Maybe try running FNIS again in case it’s an animation related problem.

  11. Hi. Can I replace Optimized Vanilla Textures with STEP – Skyrim Total Enhancement Project.

    • Hi. If you mean what version of the optimized textures you should use then it depends on what mods you’re using. If you followed STEP then use their version of the optimized textures. They’re probably the same just without the textures already included in their mod setup.

  12. Hello,
I have few questions about the installation order of the Landscape & Architecture section:

    – When do I have to install DynDOLOD? (Because in another list I found it in the very end of the installation but here it’s the first) And do I have to run TES5LODGen for both SFO and Realistic Aspen Trees mods after I have installed them or I can install only the files in their pages?

    – When I install The Ruffled Feather, I can’t select the Decrease Plants – SFO like you wrote because SFO.esm is missing but you put SFO installation after so what I have to do?

Sorry for my bad English but I am way better at reading that writing xD

And thanks for this fantastic list, I have never seen something like these

    • Hi. As I understand it DYNDOLOD should go before landscape textures on left side of MO so it doesn’t overwrite textures. The plugin from DYNDOLOD (DYNDOLOD.esp) should load last though. You just need the billboards from SFO and Realistic Aspen Trees.
There might be an update for DYNDOLOD soon that could change the process a bit anyway.
I see what you mean about Ruffled Feather. You could activate SFO before installing Ruffled Feather or leave the decrease plant options unchecked. Think that would be ok.

  13. all these mods work together without interfering with one another? also do you use anything like SkyRe or Perkus Maximus anything of that nature? didn’t find it
looks badass tho gonna try it soon

    • Hi. Yeah they work together well I think. I’m not using any major gameplay overhauls like PerMa no but adding some mods like that and maybe Frostfall and iNeed would definitely fill some gaps in this list.

    • Just wondering as that part I am missing, what ini changes did you make?

      • I’m using the ugrids 5 inis from RealVision’s optional files, although I’ve heard that’s not the best idea. The only changes I actually make are to change the graphics card to mine and iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=7 for SFO. ini files are not my speciality tbh.

  14. This site was gold for me, thank you so much. havent played Skyrim for several years, so i started on scratch with mods. However, I just learned how to clean the masterfiles (update, dragonborn, hearthfire ect) with tes5edit. Quick question; do i clean normal mods the same way? I ahve had some issues finding that particular answer!

    • That’s nice to hear. Yeah the process is exactly the same. I think I’ve mentioned all the plugins that need cleaning but in case I missed any LOOT will tell you.

      • thank you πŸ™‚ Yes, you did exellent job of informing what needs cleaning πŸ™‚ Was just scared to clean anything other than the videos showed me, its all a bit overwhelming:) but then ill get to it ^^

      • Oh I will take this oportunity to ask another question, I hope you dont mind, Oh Great Wizard of modlist πŸ˜€ When I clean notmal mods, do I include skyrim.esm, dawnguard.esm and all the rest esm`s for the main skyrimfiles, heartfire ect? If yes, is there anything else I include, like any unofficial-files…?

        • Just select only the plugin you want to clean. Any master files it requires will load before it automatically. Hope that helps!

          • Just thought i should inform you about a patch for Birds of skyrim, so seem clean and ready.

            • Do you mean Ruhadre’s patch? I just did a search after reading your comment and yeah seems like it does some good things. I’ll check it out properly later and add it into the list. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. I love this mod list – I recommend it to everyone! Thank you for sharing it

    • I’m really glad to hear that Gav. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

      • No problems! I do have a quick question though, when you say to “carry over the edit in TESVedit”, do you carry the value from the USP or from whatever the mod is that is being installed? Basically, which value do you keep? USP or Mod?

        • You want to drag over overwritten data from the Unofficial Patch since it’s plugin will load before other esps and have it’s edits lost. If two mods edit the same thing the last one loaded wins.
The simplest example I can think of from this mod list is Realistic HD Beverages. The Unofficial Patch makes the Argonian Ale a food item instead of a potion and the plugin from that mod overwrites that edit. So open up HD Beverages in TES5Edit (Click file header and hold ALT + left/right arrow keys to expand its contents) and just drag over the Argonian Ale food flag and save.
Often the lost data from the Unofficial Patch is small things like typo fixes so not really game breaking stuff but still worth resolving anyway, just so everything works as intented.

          • Cool, so you overwrite the Unofficial patch using the mod files. Thats great. Thanks again Gizard! I’m in the midst of a new mod setup so this will definitely help πŸ™‚

            • Actually Gav it’s the other way round. You want to overwrite the mods files with the Unofficial Patch data. When people make mods a lot of the time they don’t carry over the UP fixes so we need to do it ourselves.
If you get a chance watch the video by FadingSignal I’ve linked to near the start of the page.

  16. Did you combine all this mods and skyrim dont crash O.o?!?!!!!
Can you combine T3nd0s Skyrim Redone to O.O!!

  17. Hey, are these in order?  If not can you post your modlist.txt (assuming you are using Mod Organizer of course)? is the best way to post it in case you haven't heard of it before.  Thanks!

    • Hey, I did try to list them in order as much as possible. My mod list is a bit of a mess at the moment as I’ve just switched from SkyRe to PerMa. I’ll give this page a big update once my new list is sorted but right now I would only suggest to use this page as a source to find some new mods.

      • Awesome list!! I know this is in response to an old comment, but I’m curious to see if you ever did publish your load order. That would be very helpful, if you don’t mind sharing

  18. Hello,

just was wondering what is your FPS? ingame?  or is this just for screenarchery?
